Based on Dr. T.B. Brazelton’s pioneering infant research and more than 60 years of listening to parents and children, Touchpoints is a way of understanding and participating in family development. The Educare Learning Network and Brazelton Touchpoints Center partner to provide Touchpoints training to Network members. Participants learn to positively impact the emotional and cognitive development of Educare children and their families through implementation of the Touchpoints approach.
Description
The Individual Level Training will:
- Present the Touchpoints theoretical framework. The focus will be the Touchpoints Developmental and Relational Frameworks, particularly the elements of parent-child-provider relationships in the first six years of a child’s life.
- Illustrate particular Touchpoints practices through presentations, videotaped encounters, parent quotes, case vignettes and interactive exercises.
- Discuss how the Touchpoints Approach can be used to benefit the child, the parents and the educator (e.g., how early childhood educators can use the Touchpoints Approach to help parents deepen their understanding of a child’s behavior and establish a more successful system of relationships for all involved).
The Educare Learning Network will cover the following expenses:
- Airfare
- Hotel accommodations (three nights)
- Meals (breakfast, lunch and snacks during training)

Travel
The Educare Learning Network will reimburse your organization for airfare expenses. We will also cover one baggage fee per person each way. Airfare arrangements should be completed at least 21 days prior to the travel date. All flights must be booked in economy class. Airfares greater than $500 must be approved before purchase by contacting Lindsey Gonka at lgonka@educarenetwork.org. Please forward original receipts within 30 days of the event for timely reimbursement.

Car Rental at Chicago Midway International Airport
The companies’ offices are located inside the terminal on the lower level. Car Rental pick-up and drop-off points are found on Level 2 of the Midway Airport Parking Garage, located east of Cicero Avenue. Most of these companies provide vehicles for persons with mobility impairments. They need notification two to three days before your visit to Midway.

Public Transportation
Subway (Train) – Chicago transit fare is $2.25 one way. Please note, there is a $5 surcharge for passengers leaving from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Subway rides are approximately 55 minutes in length.

The Educare Learning Network will handle your hotel accommodation throughout your stay with us. We will cover the cost for your room plus tax for 2 nights. Guests are required to provide a credit card during check-in to cover the cost of incidentals and other additional charges. Email confirmations will be sent directly from the hotel to each attendee. Cancellations
- Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to date of arrival
- The Educare Learning Network must be notified of all cancellations by contacting Lindsey Gonka at lgonka@educarenetwork.org.
- Be advised that cancellation of individual reservations made up to 48 hours prior to arrival will be accepted and the deposit refunded for those rooms for the full night’s stay.
- Failure to cancel reservation will result in a no‑show fee to the Educare Learning Network.
