Audience: The ideal train-the-trainer candidate will be early childhood leadership professionals or trainers possessing skills to provide professional development to their own staff, as well as to other community-based early childhood staff.
The train-the-trainer model will prepare participants to become facilitators of Educare best practices training: Embedded Professional Development core and foundational trainings. This training is comprised of one three-day in-person contact followed by the participation in the community of practice for Educare pilot hubs.
Embedded professional development is the driver for all areas of work in educational settings. This embedded professional development training is designed to provide early childhood professionals with knowledge and understanding about embedded professional development so that they can promote these evidence-based practices in their programs. The purpose of the Embedded Professional Development training modules is to support early childhood programs and providers in cultivating a climate and infrastructure, processes of embedded professional development for continuous quality improvement.

Description
The train-the-trainer model will prepare participants to become facilitators of Educare best practices training: Embedded Professional Development core and foundational trainings using the following five-step approach:
- Attend: Attend training facilitated by the Educare Learning Network team, and will receive train-the-trainer material and content to prepare them for their own Educare best practices presentations.
- Present: Train-the-trainer facilitators will observe the attendees as they deliver portions of Educare best practices training.
- Co-facilitate: Attendees will co-present segments of the Educare best practices training.
- Trainer community of practice: Selected attendees will participate in a community of practice, either in person or remotely, facilitated by the Educare Learning Network team.
- Take-over: Selected attendees will take over the training, as it will be theirs to sustain.
Training Objectives
Upon completion of the train-the-trainer model, trainer attendees will be equipped with the following:
- An overview of Educare best practices training content
- Tools and support mechanisms to carry out the Educare best practices training with Educare and non-Educare staff
- An opportunity to attend, observe, practice and share Educare best practices training with Educare and non-Educare staff
Training schedule
We request all training participants from out of town to arrive on Monday, September 19 in preparation for an early start on Tuesday morning. The Educare Learning Network requires each participant to stay until the completion of the event on Thursday, September 22 at 2pm Central Time. We kindly request you book your travel to accommodate full participation in the event. Attendees that may need an additional night stay in Chicago to meet the full training requirement must contact us directly with your request at bestpractices@educarenetwork.org. We are currently in the process of finalizing our agenda and will provide exact training times for each day ahead of the event.

The Educare Learning Network will reimburse your organization for airfare expenses. We will also cover one baggage fee per person each way. Airfare arrangements should be completed at least 21 days prior to the travel date. All flights must be booked in economy class. Airfares greater than $500 must be approved before purchase by contacting Lindsey Gonka at bestpractices@educarenetwork.org. Please forward original receipts within 30 days of the event for timely reimbursement.

Car Rental at Chicago Midway International Airport
The car rental companies’ offices are located inside the terminal on the lower level. Car rental pick-up and drop-off points are found on Level 2 of the Midway Airport Parking Garage, located east of Cicero Avenue. Most of these companies provide vehicles for persons with mobility impairments. They need notification two to three days before your visit to Midway Airport.

Cancellations
- Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to date of arrival

- Be advised that cancellation of individual reservations made up to 48 hours prior to arrival will be accepted and the deposit refunded for those rooms for the full night’s stay.
- Failure to cancel reservation will result in a no-show fee to the Educare Learning Network.
