Sheltering Arms Hosts First Successful Launch & Learn Summit

In August, Sheltering Arms hosted the first day and a half long Launch & Learn Summit. The event was Sheltering Arms’ response to repeated requests from other organizations requesting information on how best to scale operations, diversify funding or even open a high-quality early childhood education center. Sheltering Arms staff leveraged personal networks to pitch this event as a meaningful professional development opportunity best suited for center-based and multi-site providers.

Eighteen individuals representing organizations of various size and scope attended the event. Launch & Learn featured practical conversation and dialogue around various financial models, financial sustainability, structure, programming, dedicated Q & A time, as well as a tour of several facilities and time for attendees to network with their peers.

Following the event, Sheltering Arms worked with Georgia State University Robinson College of Business students to create a business plan to scale Launch & Learn for the future. Through this process, they identified the intimate setting and peer networking opportunities as the core value proposition for the event, which will inform future plans. The team looks forward to offering Launch & Learn again in the future, focusing on how this opportunity can provide professional development to providers in the field.
